Company’s Revolutionary Kayak Launch earns the Docking and Fendering Equipment Category award

Huntersville, NC, March 3, 2017 – EZ Dock earned a coveted Innovation Award at the Miami International Boat Show as voted on by Boating Writers International. The new EZ Kayak Launch was recognized for innovation in the docking category for its unique design for helping novice and experienced kayakers get in and out of their vessel without getting their feet wet. NMMA honored EZ Dock with this award as one of just 19 winners out of 63 evaluated products.

“The EZ Kayak Launch is a beautifully simple idea creating access to paddle sports for all ages and experience levels,” said one of the judges. Ken Schober, VP of Sales for EZ Dock, added “We’re thrilled to receive recognition for this product. Much of our success as a company has been through our collaboration with our sales network on innovation and design, and this award proves that to be a winning formula.”

The patent pending EZ Kayak Launch was designed from the ground up to provide a new level of stability, security and simplicity for kayaks and canoes. This port features innovative built-in hand holds to help effortlessly pull yourself onto the port or push yourself into the water via the entries/exits on either side of the port. Its one-piece construction, integrated paddle notches and v-shaped entry make launching and docking safe, easy and dry – even as water levels change.

Seamless Integration
The EZ Kayak Launch integrates easily into both EZ Dock products and current launch setups. From old wooden docks to floating structures, the EZ Kayak Launch can connect to virtually any existing dock, regardless of its material or mooring. EZ Dock Survives Flood and 30-Mile Trip Down-River

EZ Dock travels 30 miles down the Shenandoah River

A testament to the durability and survivability of the EZ Dock product, Benton Fisher’s 8 year-old EZ Dock traveled over 30 miles down the Shenandoah River, Virginia, coming to rest atop 20 feet of debris. Found by a neighbor, the dock remained in one piece with the ladder still attached. Benton was extremely happy to find his dock had survived the flood, and the wild ride down the river, and was grateful for all the help he received from his local dealer to get his dock put back in place.

New fishing dock for Lion’s Park in Marshall, WI

“Ed Moe of EZ Dock was also a key player in the design and planning of the unique floating dock that will be installed.”

The fishing dock was a major driver of the entire park plan, according to Lion Mike Wildman.

“Currently there is not a safe fishing area for kids or adults at the park,” he said. “The new floating dock will provide 235 sq. ft. of recreation space right on the water. The dock will be ADA compliant and include a canoe/kayak launch. It is also expandable, if future use exceeds the planned capacity.”

Lions Roar for improvements to park.

The Big Catch in Puerto Rico

On December 10, 2010, La Plata opened one of the largest wheelchair-accessible freshwater fishing platforms in the Caribbean.

In the first development of its kind, EZ Dock’s modular, self-floating dock sections were tailored to create a fully accessible fishing platform that stretches out over 100 feet onto the surface of La Plata Lake. Lago La Plata serves as a reservoir for potable water and is located between the municipalities of Naranjito, Toa Alta, and Bayamón in Puerto Rico.

The 1,000-acre lake is the third largest of 20 man-made lakes in Puerto Rico, and is well stocked due to the Puerto Rico’s federal fish stocking programs. Today, it boasts one of the most robust freshwater fishing destinations in Puerto Rico, fed by Rio de la Plata, the longest river in Puerto Rico, which runs approximately 60 miles from the highlands of Guayama before draining into the Atlantic Ocean near the capitol of San Juan.

Lake La Plata provides an excellent fishing destination for Largemouth bass, Peacock bass, and sunfish. Edgardo Brignoni, an EZ Dock representative in Puerto Rico, coordinated the project with the Department of Natural Resources to install a system that would allow unprecedented accessibility to La Plata for people of all abilities. The new dock is currently the only designated fishing area on the lake. It allows people of all abilities the opportunity to get all the way out onto the water, enabling a fishing experience not readily available to people of all abilities.

“Disabled boys and girls can go to that platform and go 100 feet inside the shoreline to catch fish,” Brignoni said. “It’s just beautiful smiles on all of them, and they think that there are no limits for them right now.”

EZ Dock’s self-floating system was ideal for Puerto Rico’s rising and falling lake levels, to ensure that the dock could remain open year round.

“Our EZ Dock platform is the only one that accepts all of those changing levels in Puerto Rico,” Brignoni said. “If you build a concrete or a wood dock, when the water level goes up, the dock would be under the water. So we use our system to work with all of those levels.”

Brignoni is currently working with the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources to install similar EZ Dock systems in other lakes in Puerto Rico.  According to Brignoni, future developments will include installing EZ Dock’s EZ Launch Accessible Transfer System for Kayaks and Canoes, to enable disabled paddlers access to Puerto Rico’s tropical waterways. With continued innovation and a dedication to serving the widest range of people possible, EZ Dock has become the leading dock manufacturer for people of all abilities.

Introducing EZ Launch® for Kayaks and Canoes

EZ Dock Introduces EZ Launch® for Kayaks and Canoes and the New EZ Launch® Accessible Transfer System

EZ Dock® recently introduced its EZ Launch® product for kayaks and canoes in 2009, and now adds an enhanced feature to provide greater accessibility for people of all abilities – the new EZ Launch Accessible Transfer System.

The EZ Launch system is the first port system built specifically for paddlers, making it simple and safe to board, launch and recover kayaks and canoes from waterfront properties. Utilizing a roller and guide rail system, EZ Launch allows users of all ability levels to glide on and off, while providing ample foot space on both sides for optimum access and stability.

With the addition of the EZ Launch Accessible Transfer System, EZ Dock has taken accessibility to another level, providing individuals with disabilities universal accessibility that exceeds the minimum requirements of the ADA. A first in the industry, this feature offers a Transfer Bench offering choices of variable heights for transfer from different wheelchairs and two Transfer Slide Boards to accommodate different watercraft heights. The Transfer Slide Board lands securely on a railing system that stabilizes it and provides grab bar transfer assistance for easy slide movement.

“The mission of all of our products is to make it easier, safer, and more comfortable for people of all abilities to enjoy their favorite activities on or around the water,” said Curtis Downs, Global Sales Manager of EZ Dock. “When developing this Transfer Bench option for our EZ Launch products, we worked closely with the Access to Recreation Initiative and those involved in improving accessibility options in their communities to be sure our product would work as intended.”

With the EZ Launch Accessible Transfer System, users can simply slide down the bench and drop down into a kayak or canoe, and then pull off and on by utilizing handrails on either side. The Transfer Bench system can be easily incorporated into current EZ Dock systems and is a perfect addition for parks, camps or other recreational waterfront settings to provide inclusive, universal access for individuals of all abilities.
