The Nation’s Triathlon — EZ Dock Handles 3400 swimmers in less than 2 hours!

EZ Dock handles 3400 swimmers in less than 2 hours!

In 2006, the first Nation’s Triathlon took place in Washington, DC, with an ambitious goal: to become the largest, most organized and well-produced triathlon in the world.

Now in its third year, this stellar athletic event has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to become the first triathlon to help cure blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

On September 14 we attended the event and captured the following pictures which represented 3,400 participants in the first event of three – The Swim – 1.5K using the EZ Dock system for entering and existing the Potomac River.

Located between the Jefferson and Washington Memorials the swimmers entered the water and went North under the Memorial Bridge with active monitors in the water using kayaks, Washington DC Metropolitan Police Harbor Division, the DC Fire and EMS Departments, National Park Service and U.S. Coast Guard.

Boater’s Church

Located near Richmond, VA – a new “wave” in Churches

Perhaps our most unusual application thus far…

This floating church is called “Boaters Church at The Dock” and is a ministry of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Henrico, VA.

The church is floated from a private lake out into the James River for church services on Sunday. After services the church is floated back to its private lake until next week.

Docks survive hurricane Georges and Mitch

Sorry this took so long in getting to you. I want to let you know that during hurricane “Georges” and the wind storm from “Mitch,” the docks we bought from you came through the wind and tide with absolutely no damage. I knew they were sturdy, but I never thought they were that tough. I will be building more floating docks and I will definitely buy from you.

Conch Harbor Letter

Extremely pleased with low maintenance, durability and stability.

This letter is written to express my happiness with the EZ Dock system we purchased from Shoco Marine, Inc, in January 2008. Although a bit unorthodox, my colleagues and I use the docks to set up field mesocosm experiements (pictured below). We installed our EZ Dock system in February 2008 and have been extremely pleased with its low maintenance, durability, and stability. They are perfect for the types of experiments my lab conducts at Auburn University.

Thanks again for your help. We appreciated it and would be happy to share our experiences with potential customers interested in purchasing EZ Docks for similar applications.

EZ Docks provide convenient launch, berth and storage for Carolina Yacht Club

The Docks and Grounds Committee (in conjunction with the Sailing Committee) has been looking for a more efficient way to launch, berth and store the 420s. We decided on the EZ Dock system as the best solution. They were delivered and installed at the beginning of November.

The new EZ Dock system is a good addition to our existing facilities and to the Junior Sailing Program. The EZ Docks are significantly more stable than our former “black cubes.” They are designed to cradle the 420s during the summer sailing program. The added convenience of the 420 boat storage will allow more surface in the parking lot. The convenience of putting the boats on the docks will make our program more efficient.

I encourage the members to come by and walk on the docs and see for yourselves!

EZ Dock provides a great value in our community

December 1, 2008

As a follow-up to the EZ Docks installed on our project on Holt Lake in Smithfield, NC, I must say we are very pleased with the end result!  After much research and many months of investigation it was clear that the EZ Dock was the clear selection for our eight boat slip marina plus the additional space for our Personal Water Craft, etc.  With the positive addition of the docks we now call the location “Lakeside Point” as the docks provided the area of great value for everyone in our community.

The compliments on the end product have been outstanding.  Many had concerns before the installation but the outcome is viewed as “first class and a great asset to our neighborhood”.  The end product was even used in a major photo by the Smithfield Selma Chamber of Commerce in the yearly publication magazine of 2008.  We have even had people to drive by and stop as the docks catch people’s attention on the water, one even being the Mayor of Four Oaks, NC which is across the lake from our docks.

After many hours of research on what was the best product to use as an engineer and having many discussions with the NC Water Quality Division, the US Army Corps of Engineers, Coastal Area Management, Town of Smithfield Planning Department, and the Johnston County Planning and Inspections Department, everyone was pleased with the selection of the docks.

Another remarkable part of the docks is the docks were installed in less than two days once the material was delivered on-site.  The quality of the product is superior over wood and very durable for long term use.  We also love the fact that regardless of the water level the docks are always at the correct water level for our use on the lake.  The other item that we like about the EZ Dock is that we can expand as needed and we have many options to adjust to our future needs as a community.

Thank-you and to your team for a great job!

See you at the lake,

Greg Evans

My E-Z Dock system survived Isabel in flying colors!

My E-Z Dock system survived Isabel in flying colors!

Recall that my setup is 50 feet of fixed dock with a “T” and an aluminum ramp leading down to 50 feet of floating E-Z Dock. The E-Z Dock is arranged in a “T” formation also with a 30 foot walkway out to large platform for the E-Z Port for my jet ski and jet boat.

As the storm passed through Belmont Bay on Friday morning about 0300 AM, three conditions arrived at the same time. The first was high tide, the second was a four foot surge of water and then steady 40 knot winds from the southeast, which drove the water directly into Belmont Bay. The result was a total rise of raging water of 7 to 8 feet.

I was out there watching the action with my flashlight. The pilings on my fixed pier are cut 48 inches above the deck. The only thing I could see with my flashlight was the white cone caps on the top of the fixed pilings and the floating E-Z Dock. The aluminum ramp slipped off the floating walkway and fell into the water but the floating E-Z Dock was riding the storm out very smoothly.

Although I had taken the jet ski and jet boat off the dock earlier, I do believe they could have survived the storm if I had left them on the dock. The E-Z dock was amazingly steady in these stormy conditions.

The 4 inch steel pilings that I used on my E-Z Dock stand 6 feet above the floating deck at normal high tide but during Isabel the water rose 8 feet. However the floating dock did not slip over the pilings because I had screwed an end cap on the top of each piling. The end cap was larger than the hole in the floating dock retained and thus it only lifted the piling up about two feet and the E-Z Dock continued to float.

Meanwhile, my neighbor to the left found his floating dock in his front yard and the neighbor to the right lost his old floating dock after it slipped over the wood pilings and broke in half.

Thanks for your counsel over the last two years with my E-Z Dock system.

Dragon Boats

Dragon Boat Races are increasing in popularity across the country. Teams have been increasing in number as well as competitive events

Since Sundays were a big day for boaters to be on the water there was a desire to have a place to meet for Sunday worship on the water. A local river was easily accessible that had a cove off the river where the floating system could be stored when not in use. There are obviously other potential uses for this floating platform such as meetings, weddings, etc.

Dragon Boats trace their heritage back to war canoes and have increased in popularity as a competitive sport both here and abroad.

Basic Requirements

The optimal requirements for a dock system to launch and recover the boats are a dock that is strong enough to support hundreds of participants, stable when everyone is standing on one side boarding boats, light enough to move from location to location since events take place at different venues, and minimal maintenance.

Not only must the docks be light enough to easily transport but they should be modular to allow easy and quick assembly and also disassembly from the dock, not in the water.

Decision Point

EZ Dock is the system of choice since the dock system was lighter than any other available and easily assembled and removed. The entire floating platform is suctioned to the water’s surface due to the design of the dock sections which provides unmatched stability with everyone standing on one edge at one time.

A 10′ dock section can support 4,000 lbs so there is no limit to the number of people permitted on a dock at once other than standing room.

The only maintenance requirement is a power wash once in a while to bring the dock back to original condition. The dock has a life expectancy of 30 to 50 years. The anti-skid surface prevents slipping even in wet conditions. Environmentally the EZ Dock system surpassed all requirements since there is not treated wood, foam flotation or metal components.

Yamaha Motor Corporation Dealer Meeting

Yamaha installed the EZ Dock System for the meeting pictured below on the Potomac River in Washington, DC. The floating dock system included a floating dock platform which supported changing rooms, a meeting room, docks for PWCs and boat slips for the Jet Boats.

The entire system was installed in two days and following the one week meeting removed for use at another meeting. The weight and modularity of the EZ Dock system provides the flexibility for quick and inexpensive installation and removal. Since the dock consists of 10′ dock sections the configuration can be changed completely to meet the next year’s requirements without discarding any dock section or accessory used previously.

Yamaha Motor Corporation provides Yamaha Jet Boats and Personal Water Craft through an extensive Yamaha Dealer Network and hosts an annual meeting of all Yamaha Dealers once a year. Each year the meeting is held in a different location. The attendees are watercraft dealers located across the world who look forward to a review of the current season and the new product introductions for the next season. Test vehicles (boats and PWCs) are made available to the Dealers during this meeting, necessitating a facility with waterfront access. Typically these resort locations do not have docking services for boats and PWCs in the quantity required.

Basic Requirements

Yamaha PWCs use a jet drive propulsion system that collects water, pressurizes it and releases it serving as the drive system instead of the traditional propeller driven alternative. The jet drive system must be stored out of the water when not in use. Customers either trailer the watercraft using a boat ramp to launch and recover after use or they store the watercraft on floating dock systems or boat lifts.

YMCA’s across the country selected the EZ Dock System for their three lakes for a number of reasons, two of the most important were safety and cost. The EZ Dock system has no wood to cause splinters and no metal causing cuts, two problems associated with the use of wood or metal docks. The EZ Dock system is much less expensive due to the ability to leave them in the water year round as ice has no affect on the dock system. Previously the staff at the YMCA camp removed the docks each winter and installed them again the next Spring which was very costly as well as damaging to the dock system causing the need for repairs each year.

“Maintenance of our metal floating docks was causing major issues in our camp. Young campers were being cut and stitches were common. Every year we had to remove the docks before Winter and re-install them in the Spring. Not only was this very costly from a maintenance perspective, the docks were damaged in the process. EZ Dock remains in the water year round regardless of ice conditions. Since they only take 1″ of water to float they simply pop to the top and sit on top of the ice, it does not matter if we get 3′ of ice!”

EZ Dock Survives Flood and 30-Mile Trip Down-River

EZ Dock travels 30 miles down the Shenandoah River

A testament to the durability and survivability of the EZ Dock product, Benton Fisher’s 8 year-old EZ Dock traveled over 30 miles down the Shenandoah River, Virginia, coming to rest atop 20 feet of debris. Found by a neighbor, the dock remained in one piece with the ladder still attached. Benton was extremely happy to find his dock had survived the flood, and the wild ride down the river, and was grateful for all the help he received from his local dealer to get his dock put back in place.
